WE ALWAYS NEED drivers for our 12-seat mini buses.
We have three which are used every weekday to get members to and from the Day Centres and to bring people from other parts of the district into Horsham for shopping trips.
To be a driver, ideally you need to -
give some of your time, regularly, each week. About three hours in the morning would be almost ideal. We will probably fit you in if you can give more or less than this.
be fit enough to lift all the shopping trolleys and bags into the bus, stow them safely, unload them at the other end and take them to the customer’s door
be prepared for the unexpected
be prepared to have fun (you will have plenty)
and -
have a full UK driving licence for a car
It helps if you have driven a vehicle larger than a car in the past, but we will advise and help you on your first trips.
You will be responsible for the safety of up to 12 older people and we insist that the seat belts are worn by everyone on board. Helping people on and off the vehicle is a necessity and polite, and some may need help as far as their door.
Our buses are diesel powered, modern Renault Master conversions which make driving a pleasure and, importantly, you will bring pleasure to many folk if you can help.
Don’t know the area? You soon will if you become one of our drivers. It’s one of the best ways to get to know the roads of Horsham and our part of lovely West Sussex.
