2010 SUMMER FETE PICTURES
Entries for the
‘Make  a Scarecrow’ contest
OUR HAPPY, BUSY Summer Fete was a great success. Perfect weather, crowds of people and lots to do, buy and eat all combined to make a day to remember.

Our three mini buses were in use bringing people to the fete and afterwards, taking them home again.

Opened by local MP, Francis Maude, who also judged the ‘Make a Scarecrow’ competition, the event raised over £3,000. “It’s essential that we raise funds in order to be able to continue the important services we offer in these days of national and local government cut- backs”, commented Age Concern chairman, Vivien Lyth. “It’s good to see visitors of all ages coming to see the facilities here at Lavinia House. Also, we are always looking for potential volunteers”, she added.

Jean Griffin, a local resident, well-known horticulture judge and regular on BBC Sussex sat in the garden answering questions from a steady stream of gardeners.

The various stalls were busy all morning and then there was a lull as visitors tucked in to the Ploughmans’ lunches and cups of tea. During the afternoon, cream teas were served and later the raffle prize winners were announced.
